About Us
Introduction
The Cowichan Pipers and Drummers Society
is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive musical community within the Cowichan Valley, located in the Province of British Columbia.
Our primary mission is to encourage, promote, and facilitate the enjoyment of traditional Scottish music throughout the region.
Operation of the Band
Central to the society’s work is the operation of the pipe and drum band, Cowichan Pipes and Drums. This ensemble serves as a practical setting for members to develop and refine all the skills needed to successfully perform as a musical group.
Musical Training and Skill Development
The society offers free musical training, ensuring that instruction is accessible to anyone interested in learning. Training is delivered in an environment designed to enhance participants’ abilities through hands-on experience, with a focus on developing practical skills essential to the band’s success.
Community Involvement
A key objective of the society is to use the band to enrich local community occasions. By participating in community events, the band helps to elevate and add a distinctive musical element to these gatherings, furthering the society’s purpose of promoting musical enjoyment in the Cowichan Valley.
SCOTLAND 2026
Cowichan Pipes and Drums will be in Glasgow during the first part of August. This marks our first trip to Scotland as CPD. While we are not competing this time around at “Glasgow on the Green”, the band will be participating in the many events in Southwestern Scotland.
